What is Glossophobia? Glossophobia isn’t an infection or incessant condition. It is actually uneasiness and fear of open talking. A few individuals have this particular fear, whereas others may too have broader social fear or social uneasiness. If any one of you is asked to come on stage and give your views about any topic, how will you feel on stage? For me that situation was very confusing. I was shy and was not able to speak effectively. My heartbeat used to change and i experienced increase in my heartbeat. I used to control that but was not able to control. At that moment, i often felt sweating and all my words used to revolve around my mind. Everyone of you experiences these feelings every time when you are asked to come on stage.

We think that everyone is judging us. They are thinking about our words, personality, non-verbal behavior and dressing. Many people fear of being judged, humiliated or rejected. By thinking all this we become confused. Sometimes, we are been inquired to perform on the spot with no planning. But we need to accept the fact and we all should be confident when performing on stage. We should keep in mind that in audience there are some persons who have fear of public speaking too. So, we should not need to be nervous. We have to own our words and thoughts. Don’t fear that what others think of you but do your level best. Do you know that fear has only two meanings:

  1. Forget everything and run ( or)
  2. Face everything and rise

Now the choice is yours either you choose 1st or you choose 2nd.

How to overcome this fear? By using these steps you can easily overcome this fear:

  1. Study and listen other Speakers
  2. Regularly exercise before your speech.
  3. Use checklists.
  4. Prepare completely.
  5. Find a Companion in front of which you can practice easily.
  6. Start with main and small thing, in case you’re new to the world of open talking.
  7. Reduce your fears and stress level.
  8. You should know the skills how to engage the group of onlookers.
  9. Encourage yourself from inside.
  10. Make list of questions you can be inquired and be prepared to reply them.

I have succeeded in overcoming these fears and i’m feeling much better than before. Like me, you can also become a good public speaker if you have any interest to overcome all these fears of public speaking.
